LAWRENCE WEINER - After crossing the river - VIK MUNIZ - Le musée imaginaire
Avignon
Dates : (Finish)
This winter, the Collection Lambert in Avignon presents a double exhibition devoted to Lawrence Weiner and Vik Muniz. Entitled After Crossing the river, the exhibition devoted to Lawrence Weiner has been designed to be a real project in which the artist, the founding father of conceptual art in the 1960’s, reactivates the texts and works created in France during the long relation he maintained with his dealer, Yvon Lambert, then with the museum which houses his collection.
In Le musée imaginaire, Vik Muniz, contemporary photographer and UNESCO ambassador, unfurls his consummate art of illusion. Works by Van Gogh, Cézanne, Picasso, Warhol and other famous names in the history of art are recreated by Muniz using the most unexpected of materials – yarn, ketchup, chocolate sauce, pigments, magazine cuouts, dried plant matter, trash …). Muniz then photographs his work. The ground floor at the Lambert Collection will display this work, creating a new museum in the museum.
