Launched in the 1950’s by Jean Vilar, the Avignon festival is one of the most famous in the world. Every year, the town devotes itself entirely to theatre and dance, and attracts over 500,000 spectators for the 3 weeks of live entertainment on show from 10am to midnight. It also includes the “In” and “Off” Festivals. There are hundreds of different shows to suit all tastes!
